Just a Thought for November 4
November 4, 2015Just a Thought for November 5
November 5, 2015Back in the Psalmist’s day, walking uprightly before the Lord meant following the Law. If you followed it, you were blessed; if not, you weren’t. The Law was meant to show man his inability to walk without sin before God. There would have to be mediator to make a way possible for man to be reconciled back into fellowship with God which came through Jesus and His finished work on the Cross.
Understanding God’s heart and His perspective, we can glean so much from Psalm 84:11. The truth of God’s heart, His provision and love, and what Jesus accomplished for us can bring a deeper meaning to this verse.
“11For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
Everything in this verse is a positive. The Psalmist declares that God is both brilliance—light and direction—as well as a shield, a protector, a defense. He displayed these attributes in the Old Testament when leading Israel out of bondage.
He is still the Light of God’s love to you. Let Him illuminate your steps and be your shield of protection.
