Just a Thought for November 2
November 2, 2015Just a Thought for November 3
November 3, 2015Sometimes it seems hard to relax or rest when you encounter times of difficulty. It’s harder when you try to figure things out on your own, or lean on your own limited understanding and try to manipulate things yourself. When we’re trying to do what we’re unable to do, we’ll have unrest and the difficulties won’t cease.
No matter what difficulty Paul faced as we saw in 2 Corinthians 4:7-9, he didn’t rely on his abilities. He continued believing and trusting the Lord. There wasn’t anything he could do, nor is there anything you can do on your own either. Paul learned the rest of faith, believing and trusting God’s faithfulness and Jesus’ finished work.
When the ‘stuff’ of this world presses in, tosses you around, and dumps you out, determine you will continue believing the Word and trusting God’s promises and provisions for you. Don’t feed on the problems you’re facing. Don’t feed your doubts and fears. Believe His Word.
Faith rests. As Paul Ellis puts it, “faith is a persuasion that God is who He says He is, has done what He said He’s done, and will do what He has promised to do.” That’s the rest you can walk in, even in the middle of ‘stuff’.
