Your Tabernacle of Meeting

Kansas Sunset

The original “tent of meeting” was a temporary construction where God met with His people and where He would dwell among the children of Israel (Exodus 29, 33-34). The English meaning of the Hebrew word tabernacle is “dwelling place”, and sometimes referred to as the tabernacle of meeting. God has always desired to meet and tabernacle with man. He did with Adam and Eve prior to their fall.

God’s dwelling now is within us through the finished work of Christ. “And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit” (Ephesians 2:22). He no longer dwells in buildings but in people who receive His gift. 1 Corinthians 3:16 (NIV) also tells us that “you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst” [in you].

That’s God’s heart—to dwell and meet with you each day, each hour or whenever you want to draw Him into your everyday life situations. Maybe it’s time to enjoy some tabernacle of meeting time. To kick off your restraints, open your heart enjoying His fellowship, and draw on the resources of His grace. It’ll be time well spent with great results.
