The story has never changed. The serpent is still the most cunning beast and his tactics have not changed. After all why change a successful sales pitch?
“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, Has God indeed said, you shall not eat of every tree of the garden” (Genesis 3:1 NKJV)?
This is the pitch, “Has God said?” His work was to cast doubt on the Word of God. Are you sure that’s what God said? He wants to undermine your trust in God. Are you sure God says you can be healed? Has God said He wants to prosper you? Haven’t the gifts of the Spirit passed away? Has God said we are no longer under the law but under grace?
The more you doubt the Word, the less you will receive. And if you don’t experience God’s blessings then they must not be for you.
It’s the same old trick. Know the Word and believe the Word. Trust in the Lord because it’s not Him who is trying to deceive you into doubting. Kick out the old deceiver.
