Can’t Add Anything

Acts 10:38 gives us a glimpse of Jesus and our God, His heart, and desire for man: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Too often we’ve heard ‘yes, that’s true, but you’ve got to work to be approved of Him.’ Jesus came representing God, His Father. He represented God fully showing us God’s heart of love, compassion, mercy and grace, not the fulfillment of rules. Why would we want to try to add anything to what Jesus has already done? We can’t earn His blessings. We can’t do anything in ourselves to warrant or gain salvation. Watchman Nee said, ‘We work because we have not seen the work of Christ’ (The Normal Christian Life). Jesus showed us the heart and face of God. It’s all because of what Jesus accomplished for us.
