Jesus Born Under the Law

To understand the teaching of Jesus, you have to know that Jesus was born under the system of the law.  ^“But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law” (Galatians 4:4). Jesus never sinned. In order to make that claim, Jesus had to obey the law, at least as it was originally intended. “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law” (1 John 3:4).

Jesus often taught about the strictness of the law. For example, when the rich young ruler asked Jesus “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?”, Jesus told him to obey the commandments. When the ruler said he had (he hadn’t) Jesus told him that he lacked one thing. Jesus was pointing out something about the law, you will always come up lacking. Jesus continually pointed out that the law was impossible to keep. They needed a Savior.
