“Cursed is he who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ (Deuteronomy 27:26 NASB) If you are one of those who read the Bible through each year, you are going to run across some scary things especially things proclaimed under the law. This verse in Deuteronomy sums it all up. Disobey the law and you are living under its curse. The next chapter (28) lists all the bad things that will happen to you. If you don’t read that in context of the cross, you will think you have to obey each iota of the law or you are under the curse.
But the cross changed that all. “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree” (Galatians 3:13). Jesus did away with the curse and the condemnation of the law. That’s the freedom we have in Christ Jesus.
