Jesus Has Been Lifted Up

the cross

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” (John 12:32). The death of Jesus on the cross would be the event which would begin drawing men to Jesus for what He did. The cross is the draw. It’s the finished work of Jesus that brings people to a saving conviction that what God has done is worthy of consideration. The cross is a focal point and attraction to answering the life’s profound questions. The cross stands in the middle of history pointing to the past and pointing to the future.

Jesus said that when He was lifted up, no longer attached to the earth on the cross, the drawing process would begin. Like the time Jesus told Peter to launch out into the deep for a great catch, the great net of God began to sweep through the earth. How could one death change so much? The finished work of Jesus for once and for all people provided a way to the Father and eternal life.
