Jesus the Light and Life

^“In him was life; and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4). “In Him—Jesus” is both life and light. Life as we know it would not be possible without the heat and light of the sun. Eternal life is not possible without the light and life of the Son. Jesus is not only a light in the darkness but the light of life. Both light and life are inescapably intertwined. The life is found in Jesus for He is the life. He created and made everything that is alive.

This life shines onto the earth toward men who are in the darkness of this world. This life brought light and the light brought life to mankind. Jesus came not only to save people from their sins, but to bring life and light to us. Our sins kept us in darkness, but Jesus brought the light. We were dead in our trespasses and sins, but Jesus brought life—abundant life, everlasting life.
