Jesus the Perfect Sacrifice

chapel on the hill

All the disciples had a firm understanding about what occurred at the cross. They may not have seen Jesus in light of the cross as He walked in person with them. But the revelation of the finished work of Jesus flooded their being when they saw Jesus as the sacrificial lamb of God.“18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:” (1 Peter 1:18-19). This was the requirement of the law. “The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats” (Exodus 12:5 NIV2011).

Jesus wasn’t with spot as He was sinless in His life here on earth. As that perfect lamb, He was able to meet the requirements of the law, thus fulfilling the just requirements of the sacrificial lamb who took our sins in our place.
