The Revelation of Jesus

The Book of Revelation is the book of the revelation of Jesus and His role in the things which John said would shortly come to pass, although “shortly” has lasted now almost 2,000 years. “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:” (Revelation 1:1).

It’s both the revelation Jesus showed His servants as well as the revelation concerning Himself. Jesus is both the revelation about Himself and the giver of that revelation. It’s all about Jesus, and the more we can see of Him, the greater our trust is in Him and trust relates to faith. This is not a revelation to know more, but a revelation to know Jesus more. When we focus on Him and His finished work, we have that confident expectation for the future—hope. When the curtain comes open, we see the King of Kings in all His glory.
