Washed by the Blood

waves

There are many metaphors in the Bible describing Jesus taking away our sins. And from Jesus Christ… and washed us from our sins in his own blood” (Revelation 1:5). I like this one which says our sins were washed away. It’s like taking a plunge into the blood of Jesus and made completely clean. The Greek tense is aorist active participle which means that action was done in the past once and for all and is still active today. Our sins having been washed away never can come back. This action by Jesus has removed our sins and has freed us from their burden about our necks.

I remember sinning and old Hymn written by William Cowper, 1731-1800 “There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel’s veins; and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains. Lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains; and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.” (Verse 1) Our sins have forever been washed away by the blood of Jesus.
