Judge Not

the cross

Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven” (Luke 6:37 NKJV). Most believers think that Jesus is speaking to them. After all if it’s in red, it’s God speaking. Yes, it’s God speaking, but not to New Covenant believers, at least in the way most think. Under the law, that’s how things worked. Under grace it’s a whole different ballgame. Jesus was judged so we wouldn’t be. Jesus was condemned so there is no condemnation for us, and through Jesus we are totally forever forgiven. Yet for us there are truths we can receive from this verse. On a personal relationship level with those around us, God’s love within us compels us not to judge, not to condemn, but to forgive. That’s how we should treat others. That is the love of God and His grace in action.
