You Don’t Live There Anymore

White Sands NM Sunset

I’m sure you’re like me and do not enjoy receiving ‘misdirected’ calls, especially when they ask for someone else. Yet many times we can all be distracted by certain calls. One call in particular I’m thinking about today is yesterday. Let’s make it clear right now, when yesterday calls you, don’t answer. It can happen to all of us—something triggers a memory and there we go down the rutted road of yesterday recalling most often bad memories. Now granted our yesterdays can also have many good memories and those are pleasant to dwell on. But bad memories, events, people from yesterday need to stay in yesterday. You don’t have to run after them like a dog frantically hunting for a buried bone. Paul says in Philippians 3:13-14, “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on [forward] toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Don’t look back at your past. Keep looking and moving forward. The Lord is bringing together better things for you in your life. Yesterday is a closed door and you don’t live there anymore.
