Jesus Stood Still

And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, what will ye that I shall do unto you?” (Matthew 20:32). There are no extraneous words in the scriptures. The Holy Spirit has each word in scripture for a reason. Every word is for our instruction in righteousness. Sometimes the words are not for believers, but unbelievers. Sometimes Jesus directs His words at other people as Jesus did the Pharisees; but we learn from every word. It’s all inspired. Here I see a couple of words that stand out. Jesus was walking along when two blind men began calling out to Him. The multitude booed them. Jesus “stood still.” Something stopped Jesus in His tracks. He heard them yell out, “Have mercy on us.” Jesus is the express image of God. What we see Jesus do is what God would do. Several times in scripture it was the plea for mercy that found the attention of Jesus. Blessed are the merciful. Jesus responds to needs. These blind men were in need of healing. They touched Jesus with their plea. Jesus stood still. Jesus heard their plea. Jesus healed them.
