The Mystery Of Godliness

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory” (1 Timothy 3:16 NKJV). We have been looking at what godliness is and how it looks in us. We know it is what we are and it affects what we do. It’s partly a mystery revealed in Jesus. It was God made visible in the flesh here on earth. Godliness begins with Jesus. We see Jesus walking in godliness. If you want to see godliness, look at Jesus. That’s what godliness looks like. It’s interesting that the word godliness in only used in 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, (the Pastoral Epistles) and 2 Peter. Godliness is what we want the world to see of a Christian. We want them to see Jesus in us. It is our reverence and respect for God which shines through as our love for Him because He loved us. His godliness in us preaches to the world of a loving Father who calls everyone to believe on His Son Jesus. The world sees this mystery revealed in us through the finished work of Jesus.
