We Are Conformed To His Image

For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29 NKJV). To many, this verse indicates that we have to try to be conformed to the image of Jesus. Once again, notice the “to be” is in italics which means it was added at the discretion of the translators in an attempt to make the passage easier to understand. We are “predestined conformed.” That’s what we are through Jesus. We are conformed to His death, and to His resurrection from the dead as the first of many brothers and sisters—children of God. Our sonship is in Christ. Being conformed is something that is done to us and for us as believers. Maybe we don’t yet act like Christ, but we are reborn into His image and likeness. We are not sinners trying to be saints. We are saints who are justified, sanctified, holy, and righteous. That’s what we already are. The more we believe that the more we move to letting the world see us as that. Shine believers.
