My translation of 1 Peter 1:8 (NASB): If the qualities mentioned in the previous verses are already yours and increasing in your life, they enable you to be useful and fruitful in the true knowledge of Jesus Christ. You don’t know what you don’t know. It’s important to know what Jesus has provided for us so we can walk in them. When you know His strength and ability to overcome obstacles and temptations, the grace and strength to go through pressures from the world, the perseverance of pushing through troubling times when everything seems to be going against you, you’ll know the power of Jesus working in you. And, as you develop in these areas, you will be stronger, useful, and fruitful in Him. You won’t see yourself as always being defeated. You’ll see yourself as coming through the difficulty in victory and blessing. You’ll see your life change as you increase in knowing Him.
