Patience That Endures

patience-that-endures-pic-3-1-17

If you’ve ever participated in a 5K race or a half or full marathon, you know that endurance is the name of the game (along with training). Those participating in such activities know the importance of preparation, perseverance, patience, and they work hard to achieve their goals. What about spiritual endurance? Paul talks about enduring hardship as a good soldier in 2nd Timothy. How do you survive during tough times and situations? Patience is part of enduring. You can’t expect to click your heels together and have problems disappear. Patience is more than not losing your temper. It involves fortitude, perseverance, remaining constant—staying put, not being moved. It’s digging your heels in the Word and resting (trusting) God’s faithfulness, strength, and grace to bring you through whatever you face. Paul also encouraged the early Church not to grow weary and give up. Hebrews 12:3 (NASB) says “Consider Him who has endured…so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” God is always faithful. His joy, strength, and grace are available 24/7. You will encourage others in God’s overcoming available power when you share your testimony.
