The Old Man Was Crucified

Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin” (Romans 6:6 NKJV). BC—before Christ, we were slaves to sin. We pretty much did what sin told us to do. The old man—our pre born again man was a slave to sin. When we accepted Jesus as our Savior, we became new creations—new man and woman. We have a new nature that isn’t a slave to sin. Our nature before Christ naturally tended to sin. After salvation, we have a new nature that does not tend to sin. In fact, sin becomes repulsive by nature. The desire is different. We don’t sin because we will get punished. Jesus already took all the punishment of every sin ever upon Himself. We have a new nature where life is the focus and we are Christ conscious, not sin conscious. Sin just isn’t on our mind. Will we sin? Of course. We can never reach the perfection in performance as Jesus, but we press for the prize not looking back at that old man. We are no longer a servant of sin. We are dead to it.
