Joy Unspeakable

So many people associate happiness with joy. But as we’ve mentioned before, happiness is external and dependent on circumstances, whereas real lasting joy is internal. It is not only a state of mind (where your thoughts settle), but an orientation of your heart. The Psalmist states in Psalm 4:7 that God put more joy in his heart. He also emphasizes that there is fullness of joy in God’s presence (Psalm 16:11). God is the giver of joy and it doesn’t leave. You can quench joy when your thoughts settle on negative input. Sometimes it’s hard to explain but it is so powerful that it pulls you through any situation you encounter. Don’t allow the fire of joy to go out in your life but continue to feed your heart and mind with God’s goodness and grace. Others will respond to the joy they see in you. The song Thrive by Casting Crowns says it is joy unspeakable. Learn to activate the joy of the Lord in your life by focusing on God’s blessings and His love for you. It’ll make your day and then you can share it with others.
