Let Us Use Our Gifts

Everything you receive from God is by grace. His favor on you makes the difference. Even your gifts come by grace. “6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness” (Romans 12:6-8 NKJV). Every believer has at least one gift, some have several. Paul is writing here mainly about ministry gifts.

This is another in our “let us” verses although the words are in italics but it still applies. The point Paul makes is whatever your gift, use it. Let us fulfill the role of ministry that God has given us. Prophecy is “the declaration of that which cannot be known by natural means” according to Vine’s Dictionary. It includes speaking the mind and counsel of God. Its purpose is to edify, comfort, and encourage. “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men” (1 Corinthians 14:3 NKJV).

Do you know what your ministry gift it? Let us all use our gifts to the glory of the Lord.
