Just A Thought – January 25January 25, 2018
“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples”. (John 15:8 NKJV). It seems like a catch-22. God is glorified when you bear fruit, but you can’t bear fruit. Jesus is talking about the impossibility of bearing fruit apart from Him. He was inferring that a day would come when we can bear fruit because of the finished work of the cross. Jesus was speaking to people under the law where fruit bearing was nigh to impossible. But after the cross we would abide in Him and fruit could grow—would be grown through Him alone. In Christ, the fruit would grow naturally and the Father would be glorified not so much for the fruit itself but because you have believed in His Son.
