The Fruit Of Righteousness

“Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace” (James 3:18 NKJV). Usually when people say righteousness, they think of working to be righteous. But notice it is a fruit. It’s the fruit of being righteous through the finished work of Jesus. As you understand what it means to have the gift of righteousness, that righteousness grows. Remember you can’t grow fruit apart for Jesus. Jesus took our sins and gave us His righteousness. We are righteous so it will manifest in various ways such as James says being a peacemaker. Fruit always is a manifestation of the Spirit of God who always points to the character and image of Jesus.
