Anchored In Hope

Recently we passed several seafood restaurants at the beach closed for the winter season. It surprised us to see the parking lot separation lined with old buoys and anchors. They were humongous, strong and sturdy. In a storm or rough sea, they weren’t going anywhere. When ships would anchor offshore and ride out a storm, they would not get off course but stay steady. I think that’s why Paul uses the illustration of the anchor being our hope in Hebrews 6:19, “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast”. Don’t get tossed around by the waves of the world, waves of anxiety, waves of fear, etc. There’s no need to pull up your anchor and drift towards fear or depression. Let HOPE be your anchor and you’ll overcome and outride any storm in this life. HOPE is yours—confident expectation of good. Jesus is both your confident expectation of good and your anchor. You’ve got this.
