I’m not sure we know how to be sheep—let me explain. Most believers can quote Psalm 23 for memory, but when it comes to being a sheep that follows and depends on the shepherd to the nth degree, some don’t understand what it really means. Verse 3 tells us that “he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” We’re the sheep of His pasture. Jesus is our shepherd—the one who leads us, guides us into good things, who protects us and cares for us. When sheep don’t follow the shepherd and get off the path, they’re likely to get into trouble or hurt or worse. Your Good Shepherd sees further ahead so you can be confident that He’ll direct you in good, safe, and blessed ways. Follow His leading and you’ll always walk in good success.
