The pressure is off having to bear fruit if you’re a believer. Psalm 1:3, NLT says “They (blessed people) are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” Fruit is produced from the inside out. Trees don’t grunt and groan trying to get their fruit to pop out. We should follow the example of fruit-bearing trees. When we try producing good fruit as believers, we may be doing it in our own strength and ability. But it isn’t our job to produce the fruit. That’s God’s work in us. It’s our job to believe His Son, to be planted by streams of living water, feeding on His provision, His love and grace. As we do, His goodness will be evident in our lives as fruit. Others will observe His goodness and want what we have. That’s when you offer them God’s amazing love and grace wrapped up in Jesus. Feed, Abide, and you’ll be able to Provide.
