“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2 NKJV). We are to “be transformed.” That’s the Greek word metamorphoō, which we get our word metamorphosis. We know that to be the term used for a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. The word also describes the transfiguration of Jesus on a high mountaintop with three of His disciples. It means change. Yes change. We humans don’t really like the word change. But to get from the old caterpillar to the new butterfly, there needs to be change. Don’t be conformed to this world, but transformed into something new apart from the thinking of this world. That means discerning the mind of God and examining His character and thinking. We become Christ transformers.
