“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18). You don’t get knowledge all at once. Even though God resides in you, and you have the mind of Christ, it takes time to get that knowledge to the brain. The best analogy Peter uses here in the word “grow.” Just as plants have to grow to bear fruit, our knowledge of Jesus grows. Another way the King James Version translated this Greek word is “increase.” Your knowledge base increases as you learn more and more about who He is, His character, His interaction with people, and His relationship with the Father. This verse also ties to grace. We grow in the grace He gave us. We grow in the knowledge of what He did for us on the cross and understand His role as Grace Himself.
