On What Do You Meditate?

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” (Philippians 4:8 NKJV). The King James Version uses the word “think” here instead of ‘meditate’. The idea is broad enough to cover it all. In other words, Paul is describing what our thought life should be like and what it should focus on each day. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t think about you work, or your recreation, or buying groceries or paying bills. However, even then how do you think about things? Do you see the worst in things or the best? Do you try to see things around you as God does? When your mind is in neutral, on what do you meditate?
