“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” (Philippians 4:8 NKJV). Again, the Bible only uses this word once. We get our word, euphemism, which is “a mild or indirect word or expression substituted for one considered to be too harsh or blunt when referring to something unpleasant or embarrassing.” It goes back to a word meaning to say—how people say things. It is a way of explaining things. I think Paul was referring to listening to positive, faith filled people who encourage and build up. Don’t listen to the negative people who are always tearing down and making excuses. A good report is a praise report. Who in the Bible has given us a “good report? Jesus, of course. It’s all about Jesus.
