“They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Romans 3:12). This is a quote from Psalm 14:3 where even David observed that good had disappeared. Paul quotes this to show that individual good is not good enough. Being a so-called good person is not good enough. We have seen many natural disasters and tragedies lately. People that don’t even talk with one another come together and help each other through the hard times. Brief splashes of good happen. I just read of a person who had an expensive watch shipped from Amazon and delivered to the next-door neighbor. When this person went to get it, they knew nothing about it. Neighbor stealing from neighbor. Good is slipping away. Doing good is not going to get anyone into heaven. Being good inside is different from outer displays of good. Paul is saying here, that good comes from within.
