For He Is Kind

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil” (Luke 6:35). This verse comes from the monologue Jesus had with the people giving them the beatitudes. Look at the “for” toward the end. It follows Highest or Most High, referring to God the Father. Loving you enemies, doing good, etc. is not how to become a child of God, but how to reflect God in your life. (By the way, we become a child by grace through faith). He is kind, gracious, easy, and good. However, who is He is kind to? The unthankful and the evil. The down and out, the sinner. He extends His grace to all. Like Father like children extending grace and goodness to all.
