“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others” (Philippians 2:4 NKJV). This is not a rule or a commandment, but this is love at work in the heart. Most people don’t give much thought about others around them. Most people don’t care whether the person behind them makes it through the green light. We are hardened to the news of another murder. We see houses burned by a wild-fire and hardly blink. We are glad it wasn’t our home. Just this week two teens drowned in a torrential rain swollen river. Some would say, well they should have never been near the water. Probably not, but now whole families are grieving. It has changed the lives of people who one day were whole and the next day broken. Jesus cares. Jesus in us cares. Maybe we can let love loose and bear the hurt in some way, perhaps though prayer as we see these things happen each day.
