“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). We live in troubling times. As I write this, two celebrities committed suicide. Although the reasons for suicide are complicated and varied, something is missing. People feel a hole in their lives. They lack heart peace. Many try to replace it with external comfort such as drugs or alcohol, but that just exacerbates the problem due to faulty thinking. The things going on in our world today even trouble many believers. The peace the world gives isn’t enough. In fact, the lack of it is troubling.
Jesus tells it straight—don’t let your heart be troubled. Don’t let fear rule your life. The peace Jesus gives will fill the void and comfort the troubled heart. Jesus is always the answer.
Believers, we need to tell the world that true peace comes from the Prince of Peace.
