Knowing the Heart

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5). This reference to the heart is the first occurrence in the King James Version and reflected the heart of man just prior to the flood. The word “heart” occurs some 830 times in the KJV and occurs many times more than other popular themes such as love or obedience.

That means it’s an important subject in the Bible and we need to look at it to understand its importance. Our mind wants to figure out where to find the heart of man, but we are not going to get into that except to say, I believe it connects the spirit of man to his soul. Of course, some verses refer to the physical heart. We are more concerned with the function of the heart. This accounts for the fact that everything comes from within us.
