“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7 NASB). In Ephesians alone Paul writes about riches—the riches of His grace (2), riches of glory of His inheritance, riches of glory, riches of Christ, and rich in mercy.
I like putting this verse and the next one, which says “according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us.” Do you get the picture? What does the word riches mean to you? I remember as a child seeing Scrooge McDuck swimming through piles of gold coins in his vault. If God says “riches”, what are riches to Him? That is how humongous grace is—greater than we can imagine or think. We have it all—“in Him.” I don’t think we live anywhere near knowing what all this means for us. We need to meditate on this idea of living with all the riches of glory—in Christ.
