“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5 NKJV). Let the thinking of Jesus be in you. Allow the attitudes of Jesus be your attitudes. In the previous verses, Paul said we should esteem others better than we esteem ourselves. We should look out for the interests of others as well as our own. We are our brother’s keeper. We shouldn’t do things with selfish ambition but with a humble mind and attitude.
This is the mind of Jesus. He came as a servant, not as a king. He put the needs of others first. As I read the accounts of Jesus, it doesn’t seem he took any personal time. He didn’t take vacations, but in His few short moments by Himself, He prayed. It doesn’t mean that’s how we are to be, but we should have the attitudes He had toward people. This doesn’t come from duty, but grace. It comes because we have the mind of Christ. We just need to let it out for the world to see.
