“That you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory” (1 Thessalonians 2:12 NKJV). Three times Paul tells us to walk worthy (Ephesians 4:1; Colossians 1:10). Usually the word walk denotes our walk among the people of the world. It is how people see us. Some term it as our behavior. Through the finished work of Jesus on the cross, we are worthy in God’s sight. We don’t walk worthy to make ourselves worthy.
Therefore, when Paul says we should walk worthy, he means to walk out our worthiness so people can see the true God and come to know Him in a real way. Just as we work out our salvation, we could say to walk out our salvation. We don’t live in isolation from the world, but we are the ambassadors of heaven among the people. Walk as if you are worthy. Manifest God’s love and grace wherever you go.
