There are times when it just doesn’t seem we have much courage. We may not be discouraged, but the level of our courage wanes. What do you do then? I love the testimony of King David when he was in the midst of stuff going on in his life. He could stay discouraged, but he gave himself a peep talk.
He continually brought his thoughts and mind back to the Lord, and to the promises he had. He encouraged others with what had encouraged him. He said it like this in Psalm 31:24, NASB, “Be strong and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in the Lord.”
I like this version because it says to let your heart take courage. It’s receiving what Jesus has already given you—His hope, goodness, and favor. You don’t have to do anything but believe and rest in Him. You take it. You make it yours. You trust the Lord and rest in Him because He is full of courage, strength, hope, and goodness. So take some courage today.
