Facing Challenges in Victory

We all face challenges in our spiritual walk. In fact, even those who are not believers face challenges just because we all live in this world. Yet, as children of God, we have a wonderful advantage. The Greater One lives IN us (1 John 4:4).

Where the rubber meets the road for us is living IN that advantage each day. Let’s face it, we may have an overcoming experience one week and then are challenged beyond what we think our faith can handle the next week.

It’s not uncommon to face challenges as a believer. Jesus warned His Disciples about that in fact. John 16:33 NASB says, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

TRUTH: Whenever you face a challenge, you deal not only with the challenge but thoughts of fear and worry are apt to creep into your mind. That is, IF you let them. That’s why it’s necessary to anchor yourself in the promises Jesus provided and have a strong foundation in what is yours through His finished work. Challenges, no matter what they are, will endeavor to chip away and defeat His peace. But note Jesus said empathically that IN HIM we will have peace and it will carry you through the difficulties.

So, how is it we lose His peace? Through fear and not trusting Him. The enemy attempts to make you doubt, and contemplating any doubt leads you to open the door to fear. Jesus IS Peace (Colossians 3:15 and Philippians 4:7). He is your Peace but allowing fear of any kind—the “what if’s” of life to creep in and reside in your heart and mind—won’t allow you to overcome nor walk in victory.

You see when you allow fear, doubt, worry to oppose your provided Peace, whatever other challenges you face can easily overtake you. You are susceptible to struggling and wondering where God is. He’s right there, but you’re hooked into the power of fear and it’s pulling you into greater fear, despair, and even depression. Child of God that’s not where you are destined to walk.

Yes, whatever the challenge you face, it is real. It’s real because you may be desperate to have enough money to pay your bills. It’s real and you may be facing a tough health battle. It’s real whatever you are facing but the reality of His available peace is more real and sure. It’s a matter not allowing any fear to steal your joy and the truth of God’s power IN your life.

APPLICATION: Recognize you can’t activate His peace when you heart is full of doubt or fear. Recall what we’ve shared on the importance of your beliefs being grounded in your heart. From the strong reservoir of His power, grace, and Word, you believe and say an amen in faith to Ephesians 6:13 ESV—”having done all, to stand firmin His strength and peace because you are IN Him and His power is empowering you to victory. Faith speaks the outcome, not the current circumstance. “That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his [Abraham’s] offspring—to the one who shares the faith of Abraham…and calls into existence the things that do not exist” (Romans 4:16-17 ESV).

This is why it’s important to plant the Word and faith in your heart and mind. “Now faith is the assurance [substance] of things hoped for, the conviction [evidence] of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Faith seizes on the power of the Word and believes.

Recognize today that Jesus has already empowered you to prosper, to rise above challenges and obstacles in victory through Him. You can’t do it in your own strength or by willpower. It’s only in your position as a righteous child of God (Romans 5:17) fortifying yourself with His Word when you can face all challenges and in faith rise victorious and stronger in Him.

1 John 4:4 ESV – “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Make It Personal: Yes, the Greater One lives IN me and I am an overcomer.

John 16:33 ESV – “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Make It Personal: I have His continual Peace in my heart and mind; therefore, even in tribulation and challenges I walk in victory.

Colossians 3:15 NASB – “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.”

Make It Personal: I’m drawing on His Peace that is calming and assuring my heart. I will continue to stay in peace and walk in victory.

Philippians 4:7 ESV – “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Make It Personal: I continue to declare Jesus’ Peace in my heart and mind and determine to let His peace change my heart and thoughts as I walk in victory.

Ephesians 6:13 ESV—”having done all, to stand firm.

Make It Personal: I will continue to stand strong in faith and not let anything move me from what I believe, but continue drawing on the reservoir of faith in what Jesus has given me and what His Word says.

Romans 4:16-17 ESV– That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his [Abraham’s] offspring—to the one who shares the faith of Abraham…and calls into existence the things that do not exist.”

Make It Personal: I will exercise my faith guaranteed by His Grace and call the things that I don’t see as though it is evident because God’s Word is true.

Hebrews 11:1 KJV – “Now faith is the assurance [substance] of things hoped for, the conviction [evidence] of things not seen.”

Make It Personal: I will anchor my faith in the Word giving substance to the things I am convinced of.

Romans 5:17 ESV – “…those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”

Make It Personal: Because I have received God’s grace through knowing Jesus, I walk in His righteousness, abundance, and grace that meets all my needs and allows me to be more than a conqueror.
