Fall Days Bring Change

Have you heard? There’s a new look coming. It’s out with what was—the old—and in with something new. Fall has arrived!

Yet as we approach the time of Fall, there are several questions that beckon us to answer. What can we learn from the season of Fall? What can we learn from leaves turning bright vibrant colors?

Just as there are physical seasons in our world, so there are in our lives. From the raising of our children from infants to seeing them mature, go off to college, get married, and have their own family. There are beautiful colors to enjoy around us in each of these seasons, so we shouldn’t ignore one season or be bitter about what transpires. There are always good things in each season; in each segment of our lives.

That’s how we should see each season we enter. Isaiah 43:19 ESV says, “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Sometimes we just want to rush through each season, but if we do, we could miss the new things that God is doing—around us and in us. Furthermore, Jeremiah 29:11 NIV declares God’s Word: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Fall shouldn’t be feared as a warning of winter approaching. Fall is a time for growth, a time to embrace God’s beauty and work in your life.

A new perspective is what we need. Don’t look ahead with ‘how it’s always been’. Look ahead with joy, with anticipation. Leaves will change colors, and there is a time to enjoy their beauty. Perhaps the leaves themselves look forward to something different. Whatever lies ahead recognize the Lord already has good things prepared for you. Regardless of whether your situation looks bleak right now, there’s good ahead, there’s blessings ahead, there’s promises yet to be discovered as you walk through the rest of the year. Remember, He will prosper you in the days ahead, so look forward with joy to what each new day/month brings.
