December 3, 2019Just A Thought – December 4, 2019
December 4, 2019As we’ve seen in Psalm 91, understanding our protection in God begins with the first step—knowing you dwell in the secret place of the Most High. When you know Jesus and His redeeming work in your life, you continue to grow in the knowledge of His truth and love and grace. His working in your life becomes practical. He doesn’t give lofty philosophical platitudes to live by. He gives His love and His promises from which you can live life.
You are on a life-journey of growing from faith to faith. I hope your faith has grown, expanded since you first accepted Jesus. The more you know Jesus, the more deeply you learn of His love and His grace working in your life. He isn’t finished with you yet. He has good things ahead for you. That’s His promises in verses 14-16.
14 Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.
15 “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.
16 “With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation.”
Because you’ve responded to His love for you, He eagerly looks for ways to deliver you because you’re His child. He says because you know His name—that is, the power of the name of Jesus—you are set above your enemies, securely on high. Those things that affect others do not affect you because you walk in faith in the power of His name. You have His authority.
Whenever you call on the name of Jesus, He is THERE. He says He is with you—and in you—and whenever you need His help, His presence, His love, His acceptance, His deliverance, He IS there for you. He is your deliverer no matter the situation.
As you continue walking in this faith journey, know that Jesus has good things ahead for you because He wants you to be satisfied with life (vs 16). He wants you to be filled with a good life, His goodness abounding in and through you. He desires to show you more of His goodness and blessings that will satisfy and fill you to overflowing. I like how my friend Christy Mitropoulos puts it: “When facing troubles, keep your heart and mind focused on God’s promises, your eyes on Jesus, your ears open to His voice, and you will eventually see changes on the outside because of what’s happening to you on the inside.”
Continue pressing on with Jesus. He is good, and His promises are yours!
