Just A Thought – January 9, 2020

I began noticing a change in my eyesight in my late 30’s when I would squint at signs down grocery aisles to focus on what it said I could find. Funny thing was, as a child I wanted to wear glasses. Well, it wasn’t until my later 30’s that I did get to wear glasses. No longer did I have to squint when grocery shopping. I could easily see what the signs said.
I was reminded of my experience when I read Romans 12:2a NASB, and I immediately had a picture of how my spiritual sight/seeing could improve. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
The truth is the more we continue to see the impossibilities the world tells us about, the more we can’t see the marvelous things God has for us. Why? Because we’re locked into a flawed vision that keeps us impoverished to God’s abundant love and grace.
The good news is when you can begin to see your world with God’s eyes, you begin to move away from darkness and impossibilities. So, how can do you do that? Paul stated it very plainly: be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
We each need to be willing to renew our thinking of God’s goodness and what He will do in our lives. The world makes you think it’s all up to you to make things happen and change. Granted, you can make changes for the better on your own, but without God’s power at work in you, sooner or later you’ll come up short and become disheartened.
That’s why you need God’s Word to help you renew your mind in what is possible. God is so much for you. He wants you to succeed. He wants you to be thrilled with your life, to have success in every area. We come up short when we feel we have to make all of that happen. Truth is, we can’t.
Don’t be conformed to the world, to its way of thinking. Don’t let the world squeeze you into its process of success. Conform your thinking to God’s Word. Each day you can fill your heart and mind with what God says you can do, and what He says is yours. It’s God’s promises for you, and they’re backed by the blood of Jesus.
The more you transform your thinking in this renewal process, the more you’ll experience a greater realization of God’s presence, love, and blessing working in your life. You’ll easily step into greater promotions and opportunities because you’re thinking God’s thoughts and seeing with God’s eyes.
Let’s change the year ahead. Let’s continue to renew our minds in God’s love and grace. Let’s continue to allow His Word to transform our hearts which will in turn transform our lives.
I can’t wait to see what all God is going to do through you and I in this New Year! Get ready because it’s going to be GOOD!
