Your harvest is due, isn’t it? It’s time. So, how do you get to the harvest?
There are certain procedures to follow for Spring planting and harvest. We can say it in three easy steps. First, plant the seeds for the crop you want. Second, water continually so the ground isn’t dry and seeds die. Third, maintain patience and expect a harvest.
Okay, that’s how we see it in our physical world; in fact, you may have planted a garden recently. Even now you are in anticipation of good crops. In our town there is a small area where the community around can plant small crops. You’ll see tomato vines growing, heads of various types of lettuce growing, even peppers and cucumbers emerging. People are enjoying planting and harvesting their seeds.
So, let’s see how we can further plant and harvest spiritual seeds as we’ve touched on in previous weeks. We must begin with our hearts and mind settled on the truth of God’s Word. Ephesians 4:23 tells us to “Be renewed in the spirit of your minds”. We can’t expect a harvest of God’s Word if we don’t renew our mind and thoughts in what He’s provided for us because we won’t know the harvest we should expect. That’s why Paul says in verse 24 we are “to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” You’re planting seeds of God’s truth based on being a child of God, righteous in His eyes. The more you see yourself like this, the sooner you’ll behave like this, and see the harvest of God’s blessings. That’s the watering of the Word in your life—Step 2 in getting a harvest. You can’t water your crop once and forget it. It’s a continually watering, a continual reminding yourself and declaring who you are as God’s child.
God always promises a harvest. He put into operation in the world seedtime and harvest. Seeds will always produce a crop (Step 3). The seed of God’s Word harvested in your heart will produce a great crop of blessing and bounty of all that God has available for you. Keep watering your crops because your harvest is coming!
