A Lesson From Balloons

Who doesn’t love balloons? Who doesn’t enjoy batting them around, especially with young children? Who doesn’t enjoy watching them float into the air, escaping the confines of a yard?

Balloons are fascinating actually. Filled with either air or helium, they provide hours of enjoyment and entertainment. A little French boy sitting next to me on the train many years ago was enthralled with the balloon he held and proudly showed me, repeating the word ‘balloon’. Of course I had to nod my head and say ‘balloon’, to which he smiled.

You don’t think much about balloons unless you see one float by. No one knows the pressure the balloon encounters and must deal with. No one understands that even while being pressed beyond what the balloon thinks is possible, it’s becoming something more.

A balloon by its very nature is meant to resist pressure and still be something amazing.

It sounds like there’s a lesson here for us. You could even rephrase the statement above and say I am by the nature of God IN me meant to resist pressure and be amazing. You’ve just stated a fact of God’s amazing power working in your life.

Psalm 138:7 ESV, says “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.”

Be confident today in God’s love and goodness. Even in the midst of pressure, trouble, and life in this crazy world, He is with you, preserving and delivering you. You can soar high above the pressures and difficulties of life.
