Where’s Your Focus?

I’m sure you’ve been there. The paycheck comes and you’re thrilled. Then you look at the bills that must be paid. What you don’t expect is the washer or dryer going out and needing repair. The paycheck is getting thinner and thinner. Unfortunately it’s an all-too-familiar situation for many people around the world, in your town, and probably on your block—even in your own household.

Finances and lack are a challenge in our world today. We’re like everyone else in facing the challenges of stretching our available monies and making sure everything is squared away. And, yes, we’ve had the refrigerator go out the night before we were to leave on a week’s trip out of state! Yes, we’ve had the dryer go out and had the family availing themselves of our wonderful neighbor’s help by using their dryer as needed—again, while we were out of town!

I’ve seen the enemy yell LOUDER at me during those times of discouragement and lack. He’s tried telling me there’s nothing more to do because I’m stuck in a mess and will stay there. He’s even suggested I need to worry about how I’m going to get out of the situation. Sometimes you can just get discouraged. I’ve been there, but I don’t want to stay there and I trust you don’t either. Actually, we can’t stay there when we have His promise to “supply all our needs according to HIS RICHES in glory through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

So, how do we overcome these times of discouragement and lack? We need to REFOCUS. We need to see with the eyes of faith how BIG our God is, and how faithful He is to help us in time of need. We spend too much time focused on our needs and what we lack, we forget God’s goodness and what we have already received: His FULLNESS as Ephesians 3:19 says. You and I are FULL of God because of Jesus. It’s time to feed on His promises, and feed our faith. Faith always expects to see God’s fullness and abundance manifesting. Let’s allow it to manifest in our lives.

Focus on His promises and feed your faith. He is faithful.
