HAPPY NEW YEAR!
January 6, 2021The book of Lamentations in the Old Testament might not seem like New Year’s encouragement, but I’m confident three verses will refresh and encourage us all.
We set the scene as the book of Lamentations carries the weight of expressing grief, a lament. It is quite appropriate as we begin 2021. Many people are still expressing grief—lamenting—over what happened last year to them, their families, their friends, the world, our country. Let’s not stay in 2020 thought but move forward.
Within the book of Lamentations we find HOPE for this New Year, 2021. It is important for us to see what the Lord will reveal to us in Lamentations 3. There is encouragement. It is time to move away from lamenting, from sadness enveloping us, to rejoicing in God’s goodness. There is goodness ahead for each of us in 2021.
Take some time to read and meditate on Lamentations 3:21-23 throughout the week. We will delve into these verses highlighting greater aspects of God’s truth and love in the weeks ahead which will give you more confidence of His goodness and love for you. The more confident you are of God’s Word and love for you, the easier you’ll be able to receive His blessings and embrace a wonderful year ahead.
(21) But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:
(22) The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies
never come to an end
(23) they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:21-23 ESV
Remember, He always has something more and better for you ahead. Stir up confident expectation of His good—HOPE—as you walk in the living Word this year.
