Live In The Freedom Of Jesus Devotion
June 2, 2021On a trip to the beach last year, we walked by a restaurant with flower boxes under each window. I enjoyed seeing the pretty snapdragons and pansies together sharing their beauty with all who passed. That made me think of when I was very young and would visit my Grandparents at their house, which was also by the beach. Grandma would make sure areas around each apartment complex had pretty flowers. And, you guessed it, she made sure there were snapdragons in the mix.
Whenever I visited, I always asked if I could pull a few snapdragons off to play with. You know they’re such fun to pinch. A child could devise a snapdragon family who talked to each other. I was a creative child, perhaps being the only child of my parents, but I also pulled the pansies into my imaginary play time with the snapdragons, although I didn’t take them off their home plant. The snapdragon family would visit the pansies family often.
I enjoyed reliving a fun time at my grandparent’s home after seeing the snapdragons and pansies on our beach trip. I am thankful the Lord created such beauty for us to enjoy and am reminded of Isaiah 55:10-12, specifically verse 12, NIV. “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” All three verses speak of God’s Word and promises not returning to Him empty, but accomplishing what He’s purposed, and in that process, we can be led in peace and joy, and even His creation will rejoice and sing with us His glories. I know the snapdragons and pansies definitely shout their praise to God.
Maybe next time you see snapdragons or pansies you can join them in praising and thanking God for His goodness in your life.
