Living In Freedom From Condemnation Devotion

Since there is no condemnation for those transformed through Jesus (born-again), then we ought to live free from any condemnation or guilt. Jesus has forgiven sin (totally, past, present, and future—forever) through His sacrifice. He took your condemnation on the Cross; therefore, you do not need to carry it around with you.

Galatians 5:1, NIV says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” This was God’s purpose so we could be free to enjoy His blessings and love.

When Jesus encountered the woman caught in adultery (John 8), He waited as everyone condemned her, so they could put her to death for being guilty of breaking the Jewish Law. Gradually those around her left, and Jesus plainly asked her where were her accusers. She looked around and saw no one. His divinely-timed appointment changed her entire life. Even as she still felt condemned and worthless before Jesus, He told her “I don’t accuse you. Now go and sin no more”. (Talk about liberation!)

She’d been shunned in her village because she was living with someone who wasn’t her husband. Yet, here was Jesus speaking with her, knowing who she was and what she had done. What a revelation and transformation she had hearing Jesus tell her He didn’t accuse her. She was someone of worth, and with that revelation she testified throughout the village what Jesus had told her. You don’t think her life changed? It did big time. She had been set free from condemnation and guilt and filled with love from God, and totally changed her life.

She released/took off the bondage she’d been under and eagerly embraced a new life in Jesus. She could testify to the truth of John 8:32: “Therefore, whom the son sets free, is free indeed.” (Also see John 8:36).

If there’s anything in your life now or from the past that is keeping you under condemnation, as a child of God, you’ve been set free. You don’t have to walk around with any guilt. Let the Holy Spirit refresh you in God’s love and acceptance (just the way you are today) and draw you into His great love. Believer, you’ve been released from the bondage of guilt and condemnation. You can walk in the freedom and joy Jesus gives because it’s yours right now. Let this truth be anchored in your heart and then walk in it each day.
